Athena New York……

The brand is created by Yuko Ota, a true "milliner" who is now few in number. (Milliner is a professional women's hat maker that handles everything from design and production to sales.)                  

 

Brand History

Athena New York was launched as a hat brand in New York in the spring/summer of 1996 and has been selling since then at hat specialty stores and select stores in New York. The brand has been well received mainly for its custom-ordered hats in Soho, Upper East Side, and other special stores. It has created a wide range of hats such as hats for vacation and fall/winter cocktail hats. After returning to Japan in the spring of 2004, Athena has been presenting new products at famous select shops and major department stores every season, and its signature hats, Risako and Kimberly, have become very popular. More than 20 years have passed since the birth of the brand, and Athena New York still aims at being the brand that evolves with each season, cherishing the unique world view Athena New York started from its initial small atelier.

 

 Brand Policy

Athena New York's designs are often inspired by flowers, fruits, and landscapes, and are full of natural, simple, yet sophisticated charm.

Athena New York's hats, which are elaborate not only in respect of design but also materials used and comfort, were featured in The New York Times in 1997.  The company attaches great importance to wearability, fashion, and practicality.
